Besides the above, the State Electricity Board is planning some mini hydroelectric schemes such as Chimony (2.5 MW), Peechi (1.50 MW) and Pasukadavu (2 MW). Some small hydroelectric units are being constructed with Chinese collaboration. Besides, 62 small projects are proposed for private investment. Palakkad district panchayat is implementing Meenvallom project (2.4 MW).
The State Electricity Board proposes to
complete 34 small projects including Neriamangalam extension and
Kuttiyadi tail race before 2011. They will add installed capacity of
about 200 MW (558.819 MU). 5MW wind farm at Ramackalmedu (5 MW, 15 MU)
is proposed to be taken up during the current Plan period.
